The Coronavirus pandemic has affected everyone, including our lovely local independent businesses, many of whom have had to completely close their doors until lockdown restrictions are lifted. We’ve all had to experience the long supermarket queues as a result, and the shopping experience has become increasingly daunting since the pandemic started!

It’s because of this that the idea of our independent drive in came about. Imagine the simplicity of placing your order online, driving over to collect it, and having someone place your items directly into your boot? 

We’re lucky enough to have some fantastic outdoor space at our distillery, and we decided to transform it into a drive in market for local Harrogate residents to shop at. What’s even better, is that all of the products stocked are from our struggling independent businesses! From Baltzersens’ pastries to beer kegs from Cold Bath Brewing; our drive in has everything from your everyday groceries to wine from the Ripley Castle Estate cellars, gin (of course!), plants and hand sanitiser. Brands also include Brown & Blond, Northern Bloc, Harrogate Spring Water, Daleside Nurseries, Jarfull, and more!

The process couldn’t be easier, too. We’ve created a website dedicated to our drive in, where customers can browse products online and place their order. Shoppers can then choose a collection slot and can either pay online or by card when they come to collect. We also offer delivery to Harrogate residents for orders over £50. Additionally, customers are also welcome to drive over to see what’s available and place an order in person. The highlight of this process is that customers don’t have to leave the comfort and safety of their car during this time, and we bring the items directly to their car boot. A much more pleasant experience than queueing at the supermarket!

The reception for our new drive in has been tremendous, and it’s a great feeling being able to bridge the gap between independent businesses and their loyal customers during this difficult time. Harrogate has a big sense of community, which has been evident since the launch of our drive in.
